Lè Beach Shack is your humble beachfront holiday home in Old Bar, NSW which is only three hours north of Sydney and two hours from Newcastle.
Sleeping a total of six guests, start your morning by watching the spectacular sunrise over the ocean, before walking directly onto the beach from your backyard.
With exclusive access to the whole house, Lé Beach Shack is a unique find that offers privacy, peace, comfort and the opportunity to reset and unwind. Nostalgic, sun-kissed, stress-free days await in this quiet sleepy town where the only thing on your agenda is to relax.
Lè Beach Shack is located on picturesque Biripi Land. In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
Hi! We’re Emma and Dan, the owners and hosts of Lé Beach Shack, Old Bar. We are the proud parents of three children, alpacas, two dogs, and chickens. Dan is a Lawyer who spends his spare time flying tiger moth planes and helicopters (yes, this can be arranged over Old Bar) and Emma works in Media and Communications and spends her spare time….(just kidding, there is no spare time with three kids). We are so excited to share our beachside home with the world and look forward to welcoming you!

Originally a 1970’s ‘A Frame’ beach hut, Lé Beach Shack has been converted to offer guests boutique beachfront accommodation.
Lé Beach Shack sleeps a total of six people and offers two bedrooms (1 king room overlooking the ocean and 1 queen room with 2 singles), one bathroom, a kitchen, laundry, living and dining area.
We provide all linen and bath towels so all you need to pack is yourself, a change of clothes, a book and a beach towel!

What to expect?
Simple Luxury: Absolute Beachfront
The Shack is humble; the location is breathtaking. Watch the ocean from bed, the lounge, or the yard. If you’re lucky, you will also see the resident dolphins and migrating whales swim past. You have your own private set of stairs to walk directly onto the beach from the backyard.
The Shack invites you to enjoy a slower pace, to be fully present on holidays and enjoy every minute by taking in the beautiful surroundings, relaxing, reading, going for a walk or simply enjoying a coffee and the peace.
Food and live music
Lé Beach Shack is 400 metres walking distance to Flow Bar which offers live music and amazing breakfasts, lunches and dinners (and accommodation). Buyi Espresso Bar is located a further 400 metres up the road for amazing coffee and bites to eat. On the main street of Old Bar you will find everything you need including a Coles, Ice Creamery, fish and chips at Old Bar Takeaway, newsagent, bottle shop, bakery, butcher, Australia Post, cafes, restaurants and more. Walk along the beach to the Surfclub and for Sunday Sippers’ drinks on the balcony or grab some takeaway from Blowfish Street Food which is located at the main entrance to Old Bar beach with a park for the kids to play in and plenty of picnic tables with BBQ facilities (and monthly markets).
What’s on offer
When you arrive, you will be given a welcome book with lots of suggestions and local businesses we hope you might like to support during your stay.
Learn how to surf with lessons at Saltwater Surf School, explore Saltwater National Park or take a walk along the dog-friendly beach or Headland Walking Track.
Located only 15 minutes drive to Taree, there are more shops such as Target and Big W, a cinema, banks and services. Forster is 40 minutes drive south and Crowdy Bay National Park is 30min drive north where you’ll find more gorgeous beaches to enjoy and Port Macquarie is only 45-60 minutes north for a day trip!
If you need help booking an activity in advance such as a Yoga group session on the beach in front of the Shack, we will do everything we can to help.
Simple Pleasures
We provide all linen, bath towels and the basics: some breakfast to get you started, and a small welcome pack to help you settle in. However, if you need more than that – a stocked fridge for example – simply get in touch and we will do what we can to ensure your holiday is as stress-free as possible with everything ready to go from the moment you walk in.
Kids
Kids are more than welcome at Lé Beach Shack. We can provide a portable cot and high chair too to save you packing one. Just be sure to let us know in advance so we can have one ready for you.

Our neighbours
We love our neighbours. They are welcoming, helpful and kind. We ask that you respect that this is their home and keep noise to a minimum after dark.
Fun police
Out of respect for our neighbours and humble home, Lé Beach Shack is not available to hire for Hen’s nights, Bucks parties or weddings. There are no exceptions to this rule sorry and guests will be asked to leave immediately if found to be in violation of this condition. There are other amazing venues in Old Bar that may be able to provide accommodation for these celebrations. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
Privacy, Safety and Access Concerns
Old Bar is a peaceful and pretty laid back town where you don’t have to struggle finding (or paying for) a park, especially compared to more well-known coastal locations. You will almost always have the beachfront to yourself at Lé Beach Shack but for safe swimming, it’s only a 500 metre walk along the beach to the patrolled, flagged section of the beach next to the Surfclub.
It is important to note that while the front yard is fenced, the backyard opens up onto the beach and parents must be mindful of this when booking – there is no backyard fence. Children must be monitored at all times to ensure their safety.
Because of the older layout of the Shack, the bathroom is located downstairs and the bedrooms are both upstairs.
Getting here
Most people choose to drive however, on top of the option to land privately at Old Bar airport, Taree Airport is 7km from Taree’s town centre. Use the taxi services to make the short trip northeast. Alternatively, rent a car from the hire services available at the airport and explore the regions of Manning Valley and the Great Lakes at your own pace.

We feel like we have stumbled across this secret little holiday house that we can’t believe more people haven’t found (which for us, is great). Overpopulated tourist destinations that people flock further north for in the holiday season only leave us feeling more stressed! Your Shack is the opposite and provided complete relaxation and peace – we felt like we were actually on holidays because you reminded us what holidays are meant to be about. We relaxed, we were present with one another, we read books instead of scrolling our phones or checking emails and even when it rained it was the perfect backdrop. It felt like stepping back in time to when things were simpler, easier and stress-free (but with the most amazing view and just us to enjoy it). You have guests for life and we are already planning our next break.”

Free WiFi, Netflix & Disney Plus
We provide highspeed internet to all our guests. The 75″ smart TV also has a number of streaming services available including Netflix and Plex.
Off Street Parking
Plenty of parking is available off street, along with additional street parking if required.
Bedroom Comforts
Both bedrooms offer luxury bedding and air conditioning for those hot or cold nights with spare pillows and blankets provided.
Dishwasher
No one wants to be on holiday and washing dishes right? A dishwasher is available for your comfort to ease the burden slightly.
Washer & Dryer
We have a dedicated laundry with washing machine and dryer available for use with washing detergent provided and a clothesline.
Fireplace and Firepit
Whether keeping warm inside, or creating a mood or toasting marshmallows by the beach, we have you covered.
Computer Station
Working from home and need to log on to check emails? There is a dedicated work table where you can easily set up and do your work (then close your laptop and get back to the beach!).
Kitchen
You have access to a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, stove, oven, toaster, tea and coffee facilities and all cutlery and crockery provided.
Coffee Maker
A Nespresso coffee machine is availble for use with a small number of coffee pods provided.

Check-in & Check-out
Check-in is available from 2pm on your day of arrival and checkout is to be completed by 10am on your day of departure.
While Lé Beach Shack is professionally cleaned between guests, we respectfully request that you treat the Shack as your own and tidy up as best you can on departure and return any furniture which may have been moved back to its original place.
Cancellation Policy
Things happen; we get that- especially with three kids. When it looks like you might need to cancel we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible to discuss alternative arrangements.
Shack Rules
We are not difficult hosts, we just ask that treat the space as you would treat your own space (assuming you’re relatively tidy) and everyone will be happy. That said, to provide clarity, we have provided some rules for guests to abide by which will be available upon booking.

We had the most beautiful few nights at Lé Beach Shack. The children loved the outdoor area, the beach right out the back and the beautiful fire pit! We had so much fun! A short drive to local restaurants and bars and we also spent time at the Saltwater Lagoon! Such a gorgeous holiday home! Had everything we needed and more!

Emma was super helpful and couldn’t have been more generous. We are a family of six and the space was perfect. Plenty of room in the bedrooms and shared living spaces. The view from the living area is unbeatable. You felt like you’re on holiday from the minute you look outside (& you’re still half awake with toddlers clawing at you for cuddles..early mornings here are heavenly). I could enjoy a coffee on the beach without the hassle of getting kids changed and lugging bags and towels around. The location and understated luxury of the home made this a proper holiday for us. My husband and I could have a drink and watch the surf from the garden while the kids played happily on the sand. The garden is huge and we entertained friends under the festoon lights and watched the moon rise over the ocean- breathtaking & so memorable. Book!”
